New Luxury Bag Brand Gladstn London Launches

A current bestseller at Harrods since its launch a year ago, Gladstn London is coming to the United States. The range of fine Italian leather bags started as a menswear collection, but now offers styles considered “shareable” to promote the launch, according to owner and CEO (or chief bag carrier, as he prefers) Richard Sharman, who sits down with FashionUnited in New York during a 2-day press trip. “The percentage distinction between male and female customers is now 60/40 and our female base continues to grow,” says Sharman.

Sherlock Holmes wore a Gladstone bag, while the Original was a carpet bag designed for British prime Minister William Gladstone to promote travel. But despite its literary and old-fashioned name, the Gladstn London brand is not yet five years old. However, the connection with travel remains, because Sharman’s Inspiration for creating the range was the lack of luxury suitcases and bags that made traveling manageable and comfortable. The range includes trolleys with pockets to plug in your computer that facilitate airport security, elegant suitcases with wheels that stand on the narrowest escalators.
