Mr Porter is one of the leading international online retailers for luxury men’s clothing. The platform, which is part of the Italian YOOX Net-A-Porter group (YNAP), of course offers leading luxury brands such as Tom Ford and Saint Laurent, but also emerging talents such as Miles Leon and Manaaki.

In The Interview, Daniel Todd, purchasing director at Mr Porter, reveals the menswear trends for the coming Season, the brands that are doing well in online retailers at the moment and the plans for the summer.

What items are working well on Mr Porter at the moment?
We are seeing that all the summer categories of our main luxury brands are selling well at the moment, as our clients are prioritizing investment styles. Suede loafers from Loro Piana continue to fly alongside light suede and denim jackets from Brunello Cucinelli and Tom Ford from the site.

There has also been a noticeable increase in sales of formal trousers, with men now styling them with more casual items such as knitwear, polo shirts and casual shirts. In addition, we are seeing an increase in demand for bright and colorful jewelry – with bracelets, our best-selling model in this category.

Which brands are performing very well for you?
Our best luxury designers such as Saint Laurent, Brunello Cucinelli and CĂ©line Homme remain among our best-selling brands at Mr Porter. We are also witnessing a huge growth of designers such as Loewe and The Elder Statesman. In addition, our own Label Mr.P. has developed more and more and is today one of our most successful brands in the field.

Have you recently added any new brands to your range?
We are always looking for new and exciting brands to add to our List – many of our clients call Mr Porter a place of discovery for new designers. This season we have expanded our range of casual wear to include the Japanese brand Kaptain Sunshine, the Copenhagen brand mfpen and the Indian brand Kardo. In addition, our first Thai jewelry brand Pattaraphan will be launched with an exclusive collection of high-quality jewelry.

What is the customers’ interest in Future Mr Porter collections?
The three designers of Mr Porter Futures, Miles Leon, Manakki and Saif Ud Deen, are developing with interest with our global clientele. As new brands not-known on the market, it is important that we educate our customers on the core values of these brands. The brands have recently started launching their latest FW23 collections on Mr Porter-so I can’t wait to see how they turn out.

Are there any new capsule collections currently planned?
We recently launched our Summer Stories campaign on Mr Porter, which supports our summer category in the two main collections and through a curated edition of exclusive capsules. As part of this campaign, we recently launched exclusive collections featuring brands such as Sunspel and the Los Angeles-based brand Cherry LA.

On June 19, in accordance with the next Phase of the “Al Fresco” campaign, we will launch a series of exclusive capsules featuring iconic Italian brands celebrating Italian craftsmanship and resort clothing. Following this, we will also launch this summer a range of coveted exclusive jewelry.

What menswear trends are you looking forward to for the coming Season and beyond?
Silent luxury will remain a major trend throughout the coming Season and beyond, with brands focusing on timeless pieces made from luxurious fabrics. Sustainability and circular fashion are more important than ever, so I expect brands to emphasize not creating waste.

The bright and bold colors that we have seen in the SS23 collections will continue in the coming Seasons, with an emphasis on Denim and workwear. As men become more open to trying new styles, fabrics and shapes, the use of experimental fabrics will be of great importance.
